How to reduce the bitterness in your coffee

Do you love the taste of coffee, but find that it’s often too bitter? If so, you’re not alone. Many people find coffee to be overwhelmingly bitter. However, there are ways to reduce the bitterness and enjoy a delicious cup of coffee and in this article, we will discuss some tips for reducing bitterness in your coffee.

Choose the right brewing method

One way to reduce the bitterness in your coffee is by using a different brewing method. For example, if you usually brew coffee with a French press, try using an espresso machine or a drip brewer instead. Drip brewers tend to be less bitter than French presses, and espresso machines produce slightly less bitter coffee than regular coffee makers.

Taste test a selection of beans

Another way to reduce the bitterness in your coffee is by using a different type of coffee bean. For example, try using a single roast coffee bean instead of a blend. Single roast beans are roasted for a shorter time than blended beans, so they tend to be less bitter.

Grind your own beans

If you have your own grinder and beans, you can reduce the bitterness in your coffee by using a different grind size. If you usually use a fine grind, try using a medium or coarse grind instead. A coarser grind will produce less bitterness than a finer grind so experiment with a few settings on your grinder to find the right balance for you.

Mask the bitterness

Finally, try adding milk or cream. Milk and cream add sweetness and creaminess to coffee, which helps to mask the bitter notes or if nothing else works, you can try adding a sweetener to your coffee. This will also help to hide those bitter notes.
